Art Scholarship Application

Steps to apply for an Art Scholarship and schedule your virtual interview

 
1)Complete and submit the CSB/SJU Art Scholarship Form below.
2)Have an art teacher or instructor complete the Art, Music and Theater Recommendation Form.
3)Prepare an art portfolio of your work to be reviewed at your interview. See guidelines below. 


 Interview Process

  • Once you have complete the above steps, the date and time of your interview will be confirmed by email.
  • Interviews will be one-on-one with a member of our art faculty and can be done online (FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, etc.) or on campus.
  • Prior to the online or on-campus interview, you must provide a flash drive or CD containing 10-15 images for a PowerPoint presentation of your work to review and be prepared to discuss the work presented, as well as how you will be involved in the art department.
  • We recommend submitting your application and conducting your interview by our priority consideration date on January 15 of your senior year. We will consider applications that come in after January 15 on a case-by-case basis. 
Time Line Recap
  • Once you have submitted the CSB/SJU Art Application and recommendation form, the date and time of your interview will be confirmed by email. 
  • A flash drive or CD of your work must be submitted to the CSB/SJU Art Department prior to your interview.
  • Scholarship decisions are mailed two weeks post interview.
  • January 15 - Priority consideration date to submit the Art Application and recommendation form found at the top of this page

Compliance Requirements
  • $2,000 and below Award Recipients – Each academic year students are required to take a 4-credit art course offered by the CSB/SJU Art Department. Two 2-credit courses may count, but these are not offered regularly in the Art Department.
  • Above $2,000 Award Recipients – Each semester students are required to take a 4-credit art course offered by the CSB/SJU Art Department. Two-credit courses may count to add to the total of 4 credits required per semester, but these are not offered regularly in the Art Department.


Please note

  • Students can be considered for Art Scholarships as early as their junior year. We encourage seniors to submit their application by our January 15 priority consideration date but will review applications after that date on a case-by-case basis. 
  • This application is to be completed by students who plan a continued involvement in art.
  • Students do not need to major in art to be considered for an Art Scholarship.
  • Current CSB/SJU students are not eligible to apply for Fine Arts Scholarships.
  • Students must comply with the Art Scholarship requirements in order to maintain the Art Scholarship for four years at CSB/SJU.
  • Students may apply for more than one Fine Arts Scholarship; however, if they are awarded more than one, they may accept only one of them.

Interview
Applicants may include a link to their portfolio or send an email with images along with their scholarship application. Interviews will be conducted online (Zoom, FaceTime, Skype, Google Meet, etc.).
